No, you don’t have to pay any money if you want to start a blog.

There are tons of ways to write and start building the audience online. You can write on Instagram in the post description, you can write on LinkedIn, you can write on Facebook and so on…

But in my opinion, there are two major ways on how to start a blog and those totally depend on what you expect to build with your blog. Do you need just a blog or you need a blog as a business?

Starting a blog is a super easy thing to do. It takes only 10 to 15minutes to do that and you can start blogging right away.

There are two parts of starting a successful blog:

  1. Technically setting everything up and starting to create content for that blog.
  2. Finding readers to read your masterpiece ((:

There are tons of platforms that are good if you want to start blogging as I mentioned in the beginning. Every platform has its own advantage and disadvantage but In my opinion, there are two platforms that are great and you have two think only about them if you want to start your blog.

First one is Medium – if you just want to write your thoughts and put it somewhere Medium is the place to go. It’s easy and simple, and free. The most amazing part is that you can blog right away. The downside of Medium that it’s not so good if you are thinking about blogging as a business opportunity and want to create a business out of blogging, but it’s still a great place to start.

Second is WordPress – in my opinion, if you want to build a blog as a business you have to use WordPress because it’s the most flexible platform and allows you to scale your blog and turn it into a full-time business. You will have your own website and can turn that into whatever you want.

You can start building a professional WordPress blog with under 50 dollars is really easy and it basically takes about 10 to 15 minutes (I wrote an article on my blog on How to Start Blog with less than 50 dollars and it takes only a couple of minutes. You can check it out) but that’s only the first part of the long marathon to the successful blog.

Building the audience that will read that blog is much harder and it takes a lot of time and effort.

It’s cool that it all depends on you. There are bloggers that earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a month from there blog and they built it just by hustling.

I personally all professional career was working with sales and digital marketing I see blogging as a big opportunity not only for business but for small creatives too.

Blogging as a business has so much to offer for everyone:

  • Everyone can blog no matter who you are business or a small creative that wants to make money online
  • You can blog from where ever you want. You can sit at home and work or lay on the beach and write about your vacation and make money from it.
  • You will boost your reach. This is really important for brands and small business that what to find new customers, also for people that want to build a following online.
  • Finally making money online quitting your 9-5 job and living a life you always wanted.

The biggest reason in my opinion why people win or fail in blogging is consistency. If you see top bloggers in almost any niche, they have a simple action plan that they follow.

Usually, that plan consists of writing blog posts every week (in some cases even 2 or 3 times a week) after that promotion on selected social media channels and etc.

Unsuccessful bloggers on the other hand post from time to time and basically play with the blog and don’t look at it as a business.

And it is simple to understand why it usually takes more than half a year to start earning from your blog and you have to work super hard for half a year without any income.

It’s frustrating to write a blog post and see that it was read-only two times, but you simply have to believe and do your job.

As I wrote before making money blogging is simple but it’s super hard and sometimes frustrating, but if you ask me it’s definitely worth the try (:

I strongly recommend reading an article about How to Start a Blog, which can help you a lot.
